The PAT is administered at the Rio Hondo Community College by the Rio Hondo Police Academy staff. Below is a description of the Physical Agility Test:
Run a 99 yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb-height obstacles, and a 34 inch high obstacle that must be vaulted.
Lift and drag a 165-pound life-like dummy across 32 feet. Applicants will have 27.9 seconds to cross the finish line.
Run 5 yards to a 6-foot chain-link fence, climb over the fence and continue running another 25 yards. Applicants must complete the test within 15.1 seconds. If the applicant touches the side supports, the attempt will be counted as a failure.
Run 5 yards to a 6-foot chain-link fence, climb over the fence and continue running another 25 yards. Applicants must complete the test within 19.6 seconds.
Run 500 yards: on a 400-meter track that is one full lap around plus the straight away. Applicants must complete the test within 3 minutes and 19 seconds to cross the finish line. The distance runs measure your cardiovascular endurance.
Run 1 and ½ miles. Applicants must complete 6 laps around the track and will need to complete the test within 15 minutes or less.
Each of these events is timed. Student performance times are converted to points and summed. Students must accumulate a total score of 384 points and pass each event within the prescribed times.
